Shaw Neighborhood Gets It's First Thai Restaurant

Finally an authentic Thai restaurant has come to the Shaw Neighborhood of Washington DC. The Shaw Neighborhood is located in the NW area of Washington DC which borders Florida Ave, U Street Corridor, Logan Circle, LeDroit Park, Howard University, and Downtown DC. The nearest metro transit is Shaw Howard University on the Yellow and Green Line.

I'm so delighted that a restaurant of this kind has finally come to our neighborhood. The Shaw area really needed this nourishing change. Eighteen years ago when I moved to the Shaw area it was full of drugs, crack alleys, abandoned homes, and prostitution. Kids ran up and down the street throwing leftover food throughout the sidewalks of the filthy carryout’s that surrounded our area.

I enjoyed the Curried Thai and Chicken Empanadas. I've never had curried chicken so good before. Instead of using coconut milk, the owner explained that she uses soy milk. The empanadas were cute, fluffy, and melted in my mouth. My mother enjoyed the Cashew Chicken and Spring Roll so much that she tried to duplicate the dish at home! The food was Delicious and we will be going back for sure!

Takeout is currently available, no credit cards are being accepted, but sit down dining will soon be on the menu. I am happy to say the restaurant is spacious, and clean. Upon entering the restaurant, I was tranquilized by the smell of the savory spices flowing like the river. I would be happy to eat here everyday if afforded. Giving that I hate plastic bags, I was happy to see eco-friendly brown paper containers and bags.

I give Beau Thai Five Stars *****
